This is the specific memory type, which, in contrast to others, operates not with images and pictures, but with strict rules, symbols and words - with objects and events of the surrounding world. This type of memory is based on generalization of our knowledge. During learning, we pass the way from perception of images to perception of symbols. Math formulas and texts of books, symbols and signs live in the semantic memory.
