Interesting facts about personality

Other

Do you often use the word “personality” in your speech? Have you ever thought about its meaning? What is personality and who can be called a personality? We read books, listen to news, and now and then we meet with information about interesting personalities, outstanding geniuses. The word is rather jaded and familiar to the ear, and what is the meaning really put into it, and who can be considered an interesting and unordinary person?

Interesting personality, who he is and where to find it?

Personality is given the status of a phenomenon in psychology. This is a complex and difficult to explain multifaceted phenomenon. No science has yet given a clear explanation of the category of “personality”. Psychology considers a person as a system of internal properties of a person who is the object of consciousness.

Before turning to a discussion of all kinds of interesting facts about the personality, it is to provide something that directly affects its formation. Man is born pure, you have heard the expression Tabula rasa. So the creature with a virginly pure consciousness begins to form from the first minutes of our stay on our sinful earth under the influence of the environment in the person of parents, their emotions and attitudes. Later, when the baby grows up, he begins to experience, rejoice, feel support or be disappointed by his relatives. The basic qualities of the personality are composed precisely of emotions, environment, heredity and the elementary desire to avoid danger.

It turns out that an interesting person is a person who does not fit into the generally accepted framework, the person whose development and formation did not go according to the pattern. I propose to get acquainted with some facts about the person, and then everyone, let decide for yourself whether you are an interesting person or everyone is a unique and extraordinary representative of the human race.

Fact №1. We knowingly avoid difficulties

When you were a child, your mother probably said that you paint beautifully, sing, dance, or say that you have the talent for telling tales. And most likely, your mother tried to write you down for classes, did everything possible to develop the skill and not to bury the talent in the ground. The older we become, the more “official” excuses we have, justifying the refusal to engage in an allegedly “unloved” or “unnecessary” affair.

The bitter truth lies in the fact that, contrary to common sense, most people intend to abandon the development of their talents and abilities, because they are afraid to be undervalued. They are afraid that they will not hear sweet praise and even worse will face criticism. Although an interesting personality – this is the personality that stands out from something in the crowd. Do you remember Van Gogh? Was he recognized during his lifetime?

Fact № 2. Theory of choice

The reinforcement of the first fact is the psychology of choice. If you choose between two options, one that seems less problematic at first glance, then success is guaranteed. Accordingly, the best way to succeed is to stay idle. A similar phenomenon of personality was proved by psychologists Daniel Kamin and Amos Tversky.

The formation of a person in this situation depends on the presence of a magic pendle by the surrounding people or by a person who comes out on personal initiative, who is faced with a choice. We choose our whole life, do not we?

Fact № 3. All to the right, me to the left

Psychologists have discovered an interesting pattern. People are mostly right-handed and in unfamiliar places, on the roadside, most for some reason choose the turn to the right. Using the knowledge of this phenomenon, go to the left, there may be interesting and extraordinary personalities there!

Fact № 4. Herd instinct

Such a phenomenon became the basis of an experiment conducted in the middle of the last century by the psychologist Solomon Ash and confirms the fact about the difficulty of an independent, conscious choice.

The group’s opinion, even deliberately wrong, makes one believe in the truth of a false opinion. What example of life can be cited as evidence of this fact? Remember the mother who took you to the drawing when you were little. If in your environment there were those who did not support your artistic endeavours, and friends at some time in your life are a higher priority source of opinion than your mother, you most likely believed that painting was not yours and gave up this occupation. Although it was possible to find a way out and not to succumb to the opinion of the majority and to be engaged in drawing, and in what is fashionable, unless of course, it is sitting in the gate with a cigarette in your teeth.

Fact № 5. Who was born first?

If you are one child in a family, you probably did not feel confident, I’m older, then I can do everything or vice versa, I’m younger, so I’m not allowed anything. Dry statistics prove that the firstborns, regardless of whether the children are twins, – are more powerful, responsible and judicious. The youngest is always more reckless and emotionally unstable.

In life, this manifests itself in the choice of friends and partners. The elders choose the elders, the younger ones choose the younger ones. This effect is especially pronounced when the choice is made in families with the same number of children.

Fact № 6. Water grinds a stone or we do not change?

You yourself sometimes use the phrase “water grinds the stone,” and my mother always says: “Time will put everything in its place.” Water, of course, grinds the stone and time put everything in its place, but if we talk about the person, time only makes the moral principles stronger, the life position more stable, and the character tougher.

Personality is formed throughout life but does not change. Changes occur only on an emotional level. As a person grows up, the level of anxiety, readiness to get new impressions and openness to communication can change.

Fact № 7. The effect of character on physical health

In the process of personality formation, a character is laid. And already in the first year of child’s life, the character is formed almost completely, and over time, some traits are only corrected or aggravated.

Scientists have analyzed various personality traits of humans and have established a relationship between the character of a person and the diseases to which they are potentially exposed.

Hidden closed and undernourished people most often suffer from diseases of the cardiovascular system.

Those who cannot refuse and do not know the word “no” are prone to arthritis. Workaholic – potential hypertension. Critics suffer from kidney disease, and those who are afraid to make independent decisions, complain more often about problems with the bronchopulmonary system.

People who are not able to escape from the memories, who live in the past, are more likely to suffer stomach. Dreamers and utopians first turn to ophthalmologists and those who do not want to hear a third opinion – to otolaryngologists.

In principle, such a relationship has the right to life. The subconscious struggle always finds a real reflection. The more you try to resist reality, the more painful is the attempt of consciousness to wrest you from the world of dreams.

Fact № 8. Is personality the privilege of people?

Do not read the publications of Nobel laureates to learn that even animals have their own character and can be strong, interesting and extraordinary personalities.

I have a familiar pug. For a year in his family, he taught his masters how to talk to him and how to behave in general. If they shout at him without a reason, he goes to his place and cannot even get up for a few days to eat, drink and go to the toilet. When a family quarrels, the dog cries. A year later, the quarrels were reduced to a minimum, and for undeserved cries and hurling slippers the owners apologize immediately after the deed.

Fact № 9. Relation between weather and behavior

A similar phenomenon is called climatic determinism. Scientists have established a relation between human behavior, ambient temperature, humidity level and even the strength of the wind. So, riots, revolutions and upheavals often arise in dry, hot and windless weather. Under such conditions, the level of aggression is at its peak.

In a humid, cool climate, people are more likely to be mentally active, are more balanced, calm and rational. The sad statistics of forensics proves that the level of suicides is directly proportional to the increase in strong wind and rain. Have you ever heard of Beachy Head?

Fact № 10. Profile in social networks or your true identity

Research and study of profiles in social networks – a new interesting puzzle for psychologists.

You hardly need to talk about what a profile is and how to fill out a personal page in the same FaceBook, VK or Odnoklassniki. So, the information, pictures, links, posts, groups and other nonsense that you place on your page – a fount of information about you as a person. No matter how hard you try to glue a picture in reality, to imitate someone or not to appear like you are, it is enough to find you in a social network and to look through your page and everything will immediately become clear.

Fact № 11. Computer, internet and identity

Some twenty years of the existence of social networks have passed and new terms and diseases have appeared in the personality psychology: trollephobia, triphobobia, selfi-phobia, emotiophobia, socionetophobia and nomophobia. In most cases, it is clear what kind of phobia they are from their name, but some require clarification. Trypophobia – is the fear of commenting, emodzhiphobia – fear that your smiley misunderstood, nomophobia – (no mob) fear of being without a phone. Finally, socionetophobia is a fear of social networks.

Are you sure that you do not fall under one of the categories? How many social networks have you registered in and how many of your “friends” did you see in person?

Fact № 12. Ask or order

Another interesting fact about a person is the way to get results. If a person is asked for help, he most likely will not refuse a favor. In the case of an order to carry out an action, let it also be a kind of help, a more likely refusal to perform the required actions will follow. A similar trick was used by old Franklin.

Fact № 13. Keep the idea a secret

If you share your thoughts with others and get an approving assessment, the chance that the intended will get real success is rapidly approaching the minimum. On the subconscious we strive for encouragement, praise and success. If at the moment of bearing the idea we get the desired results in the form of non-material motivation and encouragement, the initial task is fulfilled, accordingly, the idea no longer needs to be realized.

Fact № 14. Reversed Reality

The following fact is an illustration to the fact that adaptation, habit and unwillingness to fight are inherent in everyone. American scientists suggested a group of volunteers to wear glasses for thirty days, the lenses of which turned the image. After the subjects took off their glasses, they continued to see the world turned upside down for a few more days, although everyone clearly understood the essence of the experiment.

Fact № 15. Individuality or average statistical approach

Despite the age, gender, education, strength of character and so on, each person acquires habits. The only thing that personality affects in this case is the duration of the formation of the habit. Some will take up to three weeks, and someone will need a little less than a year. It was experimentally determined that the formation of a habit takes from 18 to 254 days.

Where can we find an interesting personality?

You’re not going to argue that everyone is a personality. And will you argue with the fact that personality and individuality are synonyms? The only question is which of us can be considered interesting. This is already a purely individual or personal decision, the choice of friends, interlocutors, lovers, etc. Whether a person is interesting for you depends only on what priorities and vital values are really important and dear to you.
